Hawkweed
I saw those orange wildflowers all over the area we stayed in Northern Wisconsin. They look just like dandelion, and I had really hard time finding their name. It was also not that easy to photograph them, as in the sun, the yellow inside was loosing detail in highlights. In midday shadow in the woods it was quite dark, so for a reasonable shutter speed I had to raise ISO. And I don’t like doing that recently, the noise on some images drives me nuts. But here it is not so bad.
I like this particular image because of few additional elements other then the flower. First, it was raising from between the leaves of a small oak, and looked like it was part of the tree. If I didn’t know better that oak doesn’t have flowers like that… The second is the curvy stem.
Now, often on different blogs I see comments about “leading lines” and “lines drawing the eye out of the image”. And honestly, I cannot teel if the stem draws the eye to the flower or from it. Any opinions, anybody?
