Tea pots
I just have almost two weeks of sightseeing behind me. I have seen probably every major museum between Iowa and New York. This means that my 30 mm f/1.4 was working hard, too. Wide open aperture and ISO about 1000 gave enough sensitivity to be able to shoot in those low light situations. But I feel I still have a long way to go before I will use this lens efficiently and get the focus right 100% of the time. When I am going through my “memory” images (otherwise called snapshots), I see how many I missed, especially for the shots of my company, unfortunately. Those were done more in the spur of the moment, than my object shots on which I was putting more thinking and intent, and decide what angle I want and I what story I want to show.
Of course, there is the added value in f/1.4 lens. With shallow depth of field, it is easier to isolate the object on usually crowded museum display. In this image, I really liked the ingenuity of the hot tea of coffee pot handle, and wanted to share with people who were not with me that afternoon. And the final image came out quite pleasing.
