Anatomy of bark

There is something in the tree bark, which makes me photograph it over and over again. Each tree is unique, even each part of the tree is unique. I could have cropped this image in few ways, and ended up with a completely different images. Here it looks like an open cut, like a healing wound.

And those bark images are all about shape and texture, so simplifying the color image into a tint seems to be helping to focus it on the subject.
