Catching the speed of jets
I never was a fan of jets. I feel they do need that much of technique (steady panning with low shutter speed) as propeller airplanes. And I could not (and still cannot) understand those claiming that without jets, the airshow is not worth attending. However, I had much fun shooting jets recently, even at 1/2500 sec.
After all, there is some technique to catch the right moment of fast passing Raptor F-22 or Thunderbirds in formation. And then there is water from the atmosphere condensing on the airplane body – no, no propeller airplane can do that! It’s like the aircraft was dragging his own cloud with it.
Here is the gallery of my favorites from two recent events I attended – Airventure 2014 in Oshkosh and Quad Cities Air Show.
