Fireworks on the lake
I am not going to add to many blog posts this weekend about photographing fireworks. Especially that the recipe seems to be quite simple, and I re-tweeted most posts I saw on different blogs, so you might have clicked through some if you follow me. This year I got a unique chance to use one of the most important tips, at least in my opinion. To shoot something with fireworks, or even shoot something else with fireworks as added feature. I was spending a long weekend in the company of my husband and brother in low on beautiful Namakagon Lake in Northern Wisconsin. One the the other resorts on the same lake had fireworks yesterday. We looked at the map and find a boat ramp exactly opposite to where the fireworks were supposed to be happening. We almost nailed it :). Although none of the shore can be exactly seen, I really like the colorful lights reflecting in the water.
I was tempted to clone out the lights on the right in the middle of the frame. These are the lights of one of many boats which were on the lake to observe the fireworks from this unusual vintage point. But then, if you know what it is, it is interesting to see how much movement the water introduced to the boat for the duration of exposure.
