Lighthouse on Point Reyes
The trip to Point Reyes was a last minute decision. We had a day to kill, as out flight home was not leaving until midnight, and a rental car for the day. We wanted to see a bit of California outside city limits of San Francisco. Point Reyes was just the right driving distance, with Muir Woods planned on the way back. I loved the trip along highway 1, the winding road following the coast line. The Point Reyes also did not disappoint, with fresh, green grass, herds of cows, all surrounded by the ocean. The weather was clear that day, just windy, so the views were spectacular. Take a look at the photograph of the lighthouse to see just how windy it was. The lighthouse here provides the scale to disturbances on the water.
Meantime, I am finally done with organizing the images from the San Francisco vacation from more than a week ago. I have spent whole Sunday culling 2077 images into 150 picks to put up for the private gallery for my family to see. With the number of panoramas and HDRs to process, it was hours to get them ready for upload. A lot of time to think about editing those images. Among those 150 I eventually uploaded there is many I would never put up on blog. The main reason, besides me and my husband being portrayed there, is the fact that most of them are “I was there” type of images. Yes, they have some value for me as a reminder of great time and beautiful vistas. At the same time, only a few are more visually appealing and more universal in message. I need to constantly remind myself about that when I choose images to pick on blog. Are they “look, I was there” images, or are they saying something more about the place, tell its story.
