Pink orchid close-up
Having Lensbaby lens out to photograph orchids in Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and having almost unlimited time, allowed me to experiment with macro photography. I do not have a macro lens, and I do not have macro attachments to any other lens by Lensbaby. Yes, it makes it even more challenging to get something in focus, let alone to get what you really want in focus. Also, some of the images which looked gorgeous and sharp on iPad, did not look so well on my large desktop screen. And as much as I understand how great JPEG out of camera (or out iPad for that matter) can be, I am not sure how they achieved crisp sharpness in some cases.
Anyway, I think there is nice pleasant shallow depth of field in this image, and the colors, and the red lip is just enough in focus as I wanted it to be. The only thing I wonder is if the composition wouldn’t look better in vertical crop, now. Wouldn’t it put more stress on the green leaf on the bottom? now it seems to be lost…
